Sweet boy

Today LANL (our employer for those that don't know) had their yearly picnic. We stuffed ourselves and walked around a bit. Next year David will have fun in the bounce houses and getting his face painted.

Just hanging with mommy:

I made David a book from a fabric panel last week, he seems to like it :)

He also seems happy with his new alien bib that I sewed this afternoon.

Army crawl

David started army crawling in the last couple of weeks. Curiosity of Kelly's Great Dane Pique really increased his motivation.

Growing up!

I've been slacking on the picture posting, so I'll work to remedy that ;)

Working backwards, David is 8 months now! He is growing fast and working on a full head of hair.
His first tooth popped through a couple of weeks ago, it is still small, but sure is sharp:
My friend and coworker Meghan knitted David a teddy bear, he has been playing with it a lot lately:
Here he is in his authentic Indian shirt, thanks Alina :)
"Alcatraz Reject: Too Cute"
My garden is starting to produce some yummy veggies, we had zucchini bread out of our ears for a while (I'm not complaining, it was awesome and I'm impatiently awaiting the next crop). Here is David dreaming of living on a real farm:
We finally bought an outdoor drying rack, I think the diapers look quite pretty out there:

David's friends

David is a pretty popular guy these days, here he is with some of his friends:

Brigit, David and Adrianna, he was enjoying the attention of the girls.

David and his buddy Ben, we try to get the boys together every week!

Cameron has joined David and Ben on play day a couple of times, he is about a month old here.

Amelia is David's youngest friend, we sure hope that they get along as they will be seeing a lot of one another.

Madison and her family recently moved here from Texas, we have enjoyed visiting.

Not the best picture, but David and Ava got to play by candle light during a recent storm that took out the power.

Here are David and Maia ready for a run, maybe even more ready than their moms!

6 months

I can't believe David is already 6.5 months! Time really does fly when you are having fun and watching someone grow. We had his appointment when we got back from our trip last week, he weighed in at 17lbs 12oz (49th percentile ) and was 27.5" (80th percentile), so long and thin. The doctor thought he might thin out even a bit more because he is very active. My friend Kelly just had her baby, Amelia, two days ago, I got to go to the hospital and visit when she was just a few hours old. Though she was a pound smaller than David I hardly remember him being that small. David and Amelia will get to meet for the first time on Sunday, which will be a lot of fun.

Trip to Maine and Massachusetts

We took our biennial trip to Maine and Massachusetts last week. For me most of the trip was work related, I was teaching at the Annual Course in Flow Cytometry. On our Wed afternoon off we visited the Maine Botanical Gardens. It was a nice day and the gardens were really pretty.

Here is David ready for the banquet dinner, trying to fit in:

He had to inspect this new type of food:After almost a week in Maine we drove down to the outskirts of Boston to visit my family. My mom had been visiting my Grandma so she got to see David for the first time since he was 3 weeks old:

Here is David with his Great Grandma:
Here are my Aunt and Uncle singing David fun songs:

David visited a very fun park for the first time, he thought it was great fun:We took the train in to Boston and visited the aquarium, David really enjoyed watching the fish in the big tank.

Denver

We decided to drive up to Colorado for Memorial Day weekend, David's first trip out of state.

One of our first stops was the Broncos' Stadium:

We took a tour of the stadium, which I highly recommend. David tried out of of the box seats, he will be pretty disappointed in the seats for his first real game I think:
Of course David and Robert had to get matching Tebow (Broncos future quarter back) jerseys:
On Memorial Day we participated in the 10k Bolder Boulder, along with about 47,000 other people! David thought it was a cinch and fell asleep on mom's back for at least half of it:
We even saw Santa! There were some people in costumes doing the race, lots of people in their yards cheering, and quite a few garage bands playing along the way:
The finish line was at the Colorado university stadium, this is the only race I will ever do where there are this many people cheering at the finish:
Robert and David happy to be done and enjoying a pretty day:
For more excitement, when we got home we decided David was ready to start food. First up, avocado:

This pretty much sums up what he thought, he only ate a couple of pieces, the next day he was a little more interested.
